About the Puapa
A friendly parasite

The Puapa (Pupas familiars) is a friendly creature indigenous to New Zealand, yet it finds homes - and arms- all over the globe. Puapas are known to enjoy writing songs, and singing. The Puapa reproduces by parthenogenesis, it's eggs are often laid near a reliable human receptacle known to the Puapas as a "host". It pupates by finding a human arm to lend it protection and nutrition, It will later emerge from it's chrysalis as a Butterfly, or Pappillon Pteromyini. Young Puapae are known as larva.
Although there is no known danger of interacting with Puapas and they continually promise to "do no harm", it would be wise to exercise caution when in a area with a large Puapa population.
